This is my artistic attempts webpage. I always liked art since I was a kid,
but never actually took any art-related course until I came to do my master's
degree to
Cornell University.
Here I took the Computer Animation course with
Prof. Greenberg
and
Prof. Pellacini.
The course deals mainly with the art and techniques of 3D animation.
But our first assignment was to do a hand-drawn animation of a biped
character to get a sense of how hard it is to create standard cel animation.
I decided to draw a bat trying to fly. Here's a low resolution version of the
animation (click on the image to see a higher resolution animation):
Over the semester each student had to create an original character starting
from the actual geometry, going through the shading and texturing, rigging,
skinning and body and facial animation. The final project was to use this
character in a short film applying the whole process of designing a storyboard;
a decorated set; and having the character interact with the environment
in an interesting story.

I had a blast taking this course and I hope that I can do more of this stuff
in the future as a hobby (I'm still a software developer anyway).
If and when I do that, I'll post more stuff to this section.
